The Rector of the Parishes of Dungiven and Bovevagh, Rev Mark Loney, has issued an open invitation for people to come along to Dungiven Parish Church next Saturday, 9th September, and enjoy a ‘Vintage Rally & Community Fun Day’.
Rev Loney says the event has become part of the annual calendar in Dungiven and draws visitors from all parts of Ireland, many of whom bring their own cars and vehicles. “This year, though, there’ll be a special reason to celebrate,” the Rector says. “We have been marking the bicentenary of worship in our parish church – so the Community Fun-day provides us with a perfect opportunity to celebrate what is a significant landmark for all our families and the wider community.”
The event will take place in the church grounds and halls from from 11am – 4pm on Saturday 9th September. It will feature an extensive Vintage Vehicle display, with M.C. Gary Wilson. There will be entertainment from the McGuinness School of Dancers, accompanied by Henry Irwin on accordion and there will be a Musicians’ ‘Double Take’ with Keelan Arbuckle. Younger visitors can ‘party with Mr Tumble’ or enjoy the other fun attractions for children. For the adults there will be craft and cake stalls, a burger stall, a variety of other stalls, more catering in the hall, car boot sales and even an auction opportunity.
Rev Loney is urging people to, “Spread the word, pray for sunshine, come along and enjoy the day. You don’t get many opportunities to celebrate 200th anniversaries. So let’s make Saturday a day to remember.”
Admission is £5 for a pedestrian adult (children under-16 get in free). It costs £5 for car-drivers plus the applicable rates for other passengers.
