It’s the second night of Glendermott Parish’s  CAP (Christians Against Poverty) money course in its Tullyally outreach centre, Another Chance. The course is free and open to anyone who would like to budget better and manage their finances properly. This evening’s course starts at 7.30pm in unit 2 Glendermott Valley Business Park. The last night of the course is on Wednesday 29th January.

Glendermott Parish is running a CAP (Christians Against Poverty) money course in its Tullyally outreach centre, Another Chance, on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. Beginning this evening, the course will run over three consecutive Wednesday evenings at unit 2 Glendermott Valley Business Park. The course is free and open to anyone who would like to budget better and manage their finances properly.

‘Separate Beds’ is a laughing matter in Glendermott

The Strabane Parish Players will be taking to the stage in Glendermott Parish Church Halls next Friday 17th January with their final production of the comic farce Separate Beds.

The company have toured local parishes in recent months, playing to packed halls and earning rave reviews. Friday night’s performance will be an emotional last curtain call for the players.

Tickets are available from the parish office or people can pay at the door. The fun starts at 8pm and all are welcome.

 

Official opening of St Columb’s School of Music

The Priests, Irish tenor and folk singer George Hutton, local concert pianist Ruth McGinley and jazz aficionados Scott Flanigan and Cathal Roche will be among the glittering line-up of talent performing at the official launch of St Columb’s School of Music in St Columb’s Cathedral, Londonderry on Saturday 8th February.

RTE television and radio personality, Bryan Dobson, will compere two separate events to mark the opening. The famous jazz duo of Scott Flanigan and Cathal Roche, will kick things off with a lunchtime concert at 1 o’clock, during which they will be joined by the excellent Foyle College Jazz Band. And later that evening, at 7.30pm, The Priests, Ruth McGinley and George Hutton will be joined at a gala concert by the Thornhill College Chamber Choir, winners of BBC Northern Ireland School Choir of the Year 2019.

All-day tickets, costing £20, will grant you entry to both concerts and to the School of Music itself. These can be obtained in person from the School of Music, or, alternatively, bought online by clicking on the following link: www.stcolumbsschoolofmusic.com/tickets.

In between the two musical events, it’ll be possible to have a tour of the new School of Music, between 3 and 5 o’clock, when new students can be registered.

Men’s Breakfast in Donemana

Bishop Andrew Forster will be the guest speaker at a Men’s Breakfast fundraiser in Donemana next month.

The event will take place in Earlsgift Hall, next to St James’ Church, in the Parish of Donagheady.

‘Grub’s up’ from 9am on and – apart from the fellowship and the excellent fare – you’ll be doing a good deed: proceeds are in aid of Foyle Search and Rescue.

Service of Installation in Raphoe

Rt Revd Andrew Forster will be installed as Bishop of Raphoe at a Service in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Raphoe on Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

The Service will be led by the Dean of Raphoe, Very Revd Arthur Barrett.

All are welcome to attend the Service although it is expected that seating will be at a premium.

Vocations Retreat

The Church of Ireland is holding a ‘Vocations Retreat’ at the Dromantine Centre near Newry from 7-9th February, 2020. The retreat is entitled ‘It’s Your Call’ and it will offer those considering ordination an opportunity to explore their vocation. Anyone who is considering such a step should email our Diocesan Director of Ordinands, Rev Robert Boyd, for an application form.
