Of the many displays available to be seen by members of the General Synod in Armagh, this week, perhaps the most striking is the Mother's Union's 'Souls of Our Shoes' display highlighting domestic violence, which can be seen by all delegates entering the main auditorium in Armagh City Hotel.
Members of the Derry and Raphoe branch - including the Diocesan President, Mrs Mary Good - have been helping to raise awareness of the issue of gender-based violence. It is estimated that the problem affects around a third of all women around the globe and that as many as one in six men will also experience gender violence in their lifetime.
The MU exhibit - which features lots of pairs of shoes - invites delegates to speak out against domestic violence and to demand justice and dignity for all.
