Organist & Director of Music at St Augustine's

St Augustine’s Church is seeking to appoint an Organist & Director of Music to provide a consistently high standard of music within the church and its liturgy. 

Key Duties:


a): Choral Training

a1): Arrange and direct weekly rehearsals for the purpose of training the Parish Choir.

a2): Motivate and encourage all choir members and recruit new members.

a3): Promote and encourage congregational hymn singing.

a4): To support the training of children for Family Services and Christmas showcasing.


B: Organ Performance

b1):To provide music / play the organ at weekly services.

b2):To play the organ at services on the Principal Festivals and at special services during the year.

b3): To play the organ at weddings, funerals and other services when reasonably requested to do so by the Rector.


C: Management/Administrative Responsibilities

c1):To assist the Rector and be responsible to him/her for the provision and development of music within liturgy.

c2): To meet the Rector to draw up Music Lists two months in advance.

c3): To be responsible for the supervision of the care and maintenance of the church organ and other musical instruments.

c4): To subscribe to the principles contained in the Church of Ireland Code of Good Practice ‘Safeguarding Trust’ and attend necessary training/refresher sessions.

c5): To give reasonable notice to the Rector of planned absences, and to arrange cover.
